JobGuard — Privacy Policy

JobGuard ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that analyzes job postings to detect scam signals, spec work traps, and lowball pay. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data we collect

• Anonymous user ID. A randomly generated UUID is created on first install and stored locally. It is never linked to your name, email, or Google account.
• Usage count. The number of analyses you run per month is tracked server-side against your anonymous ID to enforce the free-tier limit (5/month).
• Analysis summary. After each analysis we store: risk score, red flag count, detected platform, and a brief text summary. The full text of the job posting is never stored.
• Subscription tier. Whether your account is Free or Pro is stored server-side against your anonymous ID.

2. Data we do NOT collect

• Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
• Your browsing history or visited URLs
• The full text of any job posting (sent for analysis, then discarded)
• Keystrokes, mouse movements, or screen recordings
• IP address (not logged or stored)

3. How data is used

Collected data is used solely to:

• Enforce the monthly analysis limit for free-tier users
• Display your analysis history within the extension
• Process Pro subscription upgrades and lifetime deal redemptions

We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.

4. Data storage and retention

Data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Analysis history entries are retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted. You can delete all your data at any time from the Account tab inside the extension.

5. Third-party services

• Anthropic Claude API — job posting text is sent for AI analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing.
• Stripe — used for Pro subscription payments. We never see or store your payment details.
• Cloudflare — hosts our backend worker and database.

6. Your rights

You can delete all data associated with your anonymous ID at any time via the Account tab → "Delete my data". Because we hold no personally identifiable information, there is no way to look up data by name or email.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
